To request an urgent appointment for the same day (Monday to Friday)

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with. We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable health professional to help you. You may be advised to contact NHS 111 if the practice has reached capacity.

To request a routine appointment for a GP in the next 28 days

If you have a non-urgent problem or you don’t need to be seen face to face you can submit a request for an appointment online a member of the team will review the request within 48hrs and direct the problem appropriately. Alternatively, you can call the Practice during our opening times on 01642 477133.

Appointment types

For each health care professional, we offer:

  • telephone appointment
  • face to face appointments
  • online appointments/consultations

Please note that for telephone appointments we will offer you an appointment date, but we may call you at any time throughout the day.

Booking appointments online

The easiest way to book your appointments online is to register with the NHS App.

The app allows you to book appointments, order your repeat prescription, book child vaccinations and access lots of different health and care websites and apps with one set of login details for more information click here.

Patients can also sign up for our direct booking tool SystmOnline You can book appointments and order prescriptions but you must get a username and password from reception first.

Patients need to complete and application form and provide reception with photographic ID. We will then send you a username and password via email.

For patients who do not have photographic identification then a current utility bill is acceptable. The reception team will post a username and password to the applicant if a stamped self-addressed is provided.

Home Visits

To request a home visit please contact the surgery on 01642 477133 before 10.00am.

Visits requested will be passed to the doctor ‘on call’ and should be of an urgent nature only. Priority will be given to housebound patients for whom travel would cause deterioration of their medical condition.

Please not lack of transport is not a reason to request a home visit.

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen and will need to re-arrange your appointment. 

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist prior to booking the appointment and she will arrange this for you.  Please note that we need 7 days notice to arrange an interpreter.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you cannot make your appointment let us know as soon as you can so another patient can book the appointment time.  You can cancel or change your appointment:

  • Use the NHS App to cancel or change an appointment.
  • Use SystmOnline to cancel or change an appointment.

  • Visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist. We are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6.00pm

Appointment reminder texts will also be sent to patients through which you will be able to cancel your appointment.

Did not attend policy

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient.

If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have missed your appointment. Patients to regularly miss appointments maybe removed from the list.

 

If you need help when we are closed?

  • Use NHS 111 online (111.nhs.uk) or call 111. 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
  • If it’s a life-threatening emergency call 999.
  • GP opening hours have been extended for all GP practices in the South of Tees area, patients can now access the South Tees Access and Response (STAR) Service. Please contact Zetland Medical Practice between 08:30 – 6pm to book and Out of Hours appointment.
  • To see or speak to a clinician urgently between 18:30 and 21:30 – Monday to Friday or 08:00 to 20:00 weekends & Bank Holidays please ring 111.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need inform reception and give your verbal consent. 

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

Extended Hours

Our Practice is open one evening a week for doctor appointments.

Star Service – Extended GP Access

You can book your own out of hours appointment - Just click on the star service link- to access one of the local extended GP centres.

GP opening hours have been extended for all GP practices in the South of Tees CCG area.  To improve primary care services outside normal hours, patients can now access the South Tees Access and Response (STAR) Service.

To see or speak to a clinican urgently between 18:30 and 21:30 – Monday to Friday or 08:00 to 20:00 weekends & Bank Holidays please ring 111. During normal hours patients should continue to contact Zetland Medical Practice to make an appointment.
